This piggy-back reservoir shock, features 20 clicks of compression adjustment, allowing the rider to quickly fine tune to their preferred ride. The RRS adds an additional 11” of suspension travel to the YETI’s standard 11.5” (129 YETI SNOWMX) giving you 22.5”+ of suspension, soaking up those trails with ease.

The RRS is designed to “sag” in when you sit on your MX bike, just as a MX bike suspension is designed to “sag”. The RRS will soak up the smaller bumps and is designed to work/collapse first and then the rear suspension in the track will work second.

We are very happy with the ride quality of the RRS equipped bikes, it takes riding the trail to a whole new level of performance.  Just sit down, relax and save your back as you find your way to the top of the whooped out trail, and if you happen to drop off an unexpected log or drop, the extra travel will soak it up.

The RRS features a 20 position compression dampening adjuster screw. When adjusted in all the way clockwise to click #20 it is at the stiffest setting (most dampening), while all the way out counterclockwise to click #1 is its softest setting.

The RRS is a nitrogen, oil filed piggyback resivor shock, it is non serviceable.


Q: How much does the RRS move when riding?

A: The RRS has one inch of shaft travel. But the lever that it has over the entire YETI chassis, allows the YETI to have 9” more travel overall on the 129 YETI model. It will move the chassis around 1” at the very front of the chassis, and will move 9” at the rear bumper tip.

Q: Is there enough room for my YETI can to clear?

A: We have tested it on all our models, and yes it will clear the YETI can at full suspension travel.

Q: Will my chain slack off and then re tension as the RRS goes through its suspension travel, causing my chain to break?

A: The YETI features an automatic chain tension system that takes up the chain slack as the RRS suspension goes through its travel, thus avoiding the chain shock load and stretch. The RRS in combination with the auto chain tensioner is a great package, designed for long service life.

1) Place your bike on the flat ground on the centre ski skag.
2) Bounce the front forks to be sure they are fully extended.
3) Calculate the rail tip by measuring :
          a) 1” behind the front lower shock cross shaft, top of the slider to the floor
          b) at the rear shock cross shaft, top of the slider to the floor.
4) Take the difference between the two measurements, this is the rail tip. It can be positive  (front being higher than the rear) or negative (front being lower than the rear)

5) Set the rail tip to 0, or level.

6) After setting the rail level, give the rod end 2 1/2 turns counterclockwise (extending the rod end by .187”)

This should give you an initial starting point. The YETI rails on flat ground will be up slightly with no rider on the bike, once you sit on it, it will sag in from the initial setting. Adjust accordingly to the ski pressure you desire from here. We suggest you turn the rod end one rotation at a time and re-ride to notice the difference.

NOTE: Each 1/2 rotation of the rod end is equal to 1/16” or .06250” in the RRS eye to eye length. One full rotation is 1/8” or .125” and so on.

NOTE: The bottom rod end on the RRS shock and the strut rod is a LH thread.

The rail tip is “UP” .140” at the front of the rail.
This is a recommended initial set up for the RRS, a front rail tip up of .187”

To tip the rear of the rail up: Turn the RRS rod end clockwise , extending the rod end.

To tip the front rail up: Turn the RRS rod end counterclockwise, shortening the RRS overall length.

Each 360 degree rotation of the RRS rod end will move the rail tip 1/8” up or down depending on the rotation of the rod end.

The RRS shock is set with a safety factor in the RRS Shock length, if you completely screw the rod in until it bottoms, the YETI chassis will not touch your bike’s subframe.

As the RRS suspension goes through its travel, the suspension rail will tip at the rear +1.4” when the RRS shock is fully compressed.
